Terms of Service
The short version of how bookings work. These terms apply to every booking with J.R Detailing and don't affect your statutory rights.
1. Quotes and pricing
- Prices are in GBP and based on what you tell us about the car β size, condition and what you want done.
- If the car is in worse condition than described (heavy soiling, contamination, pet hair, mould, overspray, previous repairs), the price may change. We'll discuss any change with you before going ahead.
- Extra work you ask for on the day is charged separately.
- We can refuse work if a vehicle is unsafe, misdescribed or unsuitable for the service booked.
2. Deposit
- A deposit secures your appointment: 20% or Β£50, whichever is greater. For larger jobs it may be up to 50% β we'll confirm the amount when you book.
- The deposit comes off your final balance.
- It covers reserved time and any products bought for your job, so it's non-refundable unless we agree otherwise in writing or the law requires it.
- If a job is split across days (for example correction first, coating later), payment for the completed stage may be due before the car is returned.
3. Cancelling or rescheduling
- Please give at least 72 hours' notice to cancel or move a booking.
- Less than 72 hours' notice, no-shows, or the car not being available: we may keep the deposit. Cancelling within 48 hours also incurs a Β£25 fee, as products will already have been bought for your job.
- With enough notice we'll usually move your deposit to a new date.
- If we have to cancel (illness, equipment, unsafe conditions), you get a new date or a refund of anything paid for work not done.
- If you book remotely you may have a legal 14-day right to cancel. If you ask us to start within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for work already done and products already used.
- Late arrival: more than 30 minutes late without letting us know and we may cancel and keep the deposit. If we can still fit the job in, a Β£25 late fee may apply.
4. Your car and your responsibilities
- Remove personal items, valuables, documents and child seats before the service. We're not responsible for items left in the car.
- Tell us before we start about anything we should know: previous accident repairs, resprayed panels, thin or peeling paint, wraps or PPF, weak trim, electrical faults or leaks.
- Heavily soiled cars, hazardous contamination or infestations may cost extra or be refused.
- Pet hair removal isn't a standard inclusion. We can attempt it for an extra Β£20, but embedded hair can't be guaranteed to come out fully.
- The car needs enough fuel, battery and basic mechanical function for us to move and work on it.
5. Paint correction and ceramic coatings
- We use proper skill and care, but we don't guarantee 100% removal of every scratch, swirl, stain or odour. Some defects are too deep to remove safely.
- Correction is an improvement service, not a restoration guarantee. Results depend on paint depth and hardness, previous repairs and how the car has been maintained.
- On older or previously repaired surfaces, polishing, chemicals or heat can reveal existing weaknesses (failing lacquer, loose trim, old repairs). We're not liable for pre-existing problems unless we've been negligent.
- Coating durability depends on correct aftercare. Harsh chemicals, brush car washes or poor maintenance can reduce performance and void any durability claim. We'll give you aftercare guidance β following it is down to you.
- We don't refurbish or repair alloy wheels unless agreed in writing.
6. Timing
- Any completion time is an estimate. Duration depends on the car's condition, drying and curing times, and anything we find during the job.
7. Inspection and any problems
- Check the car when you collect it. If something isn't right, tell us within 24 hours with photos.
- Give us the chance to inspect and put it right before washing, polishing or having anyone else work on the area. We can't refund work done by someone else.
8. While your car is with us
- We take reasonable care of your car while it's at the unit. You must keep it insured throughout.
- We're not liable for fire, theft, vandalism or extreme weather except where caused by our negligence.
- Risk passes back to you when the car is collected or we tell you it's ready. Cars not collected within a reasonable time may incur storage fees after we've notified you.
- We may hold the car until payment clears.
9. Payment
- The balance is due on completion, before the car is released, unless agreed otherwise in writing.
- We accept bank transfer, cash and card.
- If we agree to release the car first, invoices are due within 48 hours. Unpaid balances may be recovered through debt recovery or the Small Claims Court, plus recoverable costs.
10. Liability
- Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
- Otherwise our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in question, and we're not liable for indirect losses such as loss of use or income.
11. Photos and video
- We photograph and film cars before, during and after work for records and marketing. Tell us in writing before we start if you'd rather your car wasn't featured. We avoid showing number plates and personal details where we reasonably can.
12. Legal
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- By paying a deposit, confirming a booking or presenting your car for a service, you're agreeing to these terms.
